Savory

Savory is an evergreen shrub with pointy, slender leaves with very small flowers. It is a highly common plant in areas surrounding the Black Sea and near the
Mediterranean Sea. Savory belongs to the Labiatae family.

Flavor

The taste of savory is overpowering, spicy and peppery. The annual species is slightly less spicy. Savory adds flavor to bean dishes.
In the Dutch kitchen, it is also used in soups and cucumber salads. People use savory to add flavor to trout, salami, horseradish sauce, bitters and strengthening wine.

Storage

It is best to store savory in a cold and dark place. Freezing or storing in oil is also possible.
